How come Katy Perry and Kelly Clarkson sing the same version of the same song?

Katy Perry sings "Hook Up" she and Kara Diograudi helped write it. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6DekK6QKefk

And a few months later, Kelly Clarkson comes out with pretty much the exact same version, but calls it "I Do Not Hook Up" http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=q62pOio7PaY

Which one do you like better?

Katy Perry wrote the song for her album but they didnt end up putting it on there, so Kelly was able to put it on her new album All I Ever Wanted adn btw Kellys version is sooooo much better..!!

    Katy Perry helped write that, and she decided to record her own version of it for an unreleased album she has.
    Kelly Clarksons voice is so many times better than Katy Perrys..

    I think Kelly did a better job on it, but then again I heard her version first and that might have swayed my opinion. But I think Katy is waaaay hotter so it's a split on this 1.
