Sanjaya Winning American Idol?
If, in fact, Sanjaya would be hailed winner of American Idol season six, it wouldnât be the end of the worldâ¦that is for anti-American Idol fans that are believed to have sabotaged the popular reality show by voting for the weakest contestant.
Over the past years, American Idol has been popularly known for showcasing talented and highly endowed artists just like previous winners such as Carrie Underwood, Fantasia Barrino and Kelly Clarkson, as well as other finalists who have also established their names in the entertainment industry like Chris Daughtry and Jennifer Hudson. Although there are some slips of a few unfavorable participants, the show, for the most part, has maintained an ideal concept of what takes to be an American Idol winner.
However, with American Idol season six, there seems to be a change of direction for the viewers of the said show. The viewers, whether comprising of pro-Idol fans, anti-Idols or even die hard Sanjaya fans has ultimately placed the controversial contestant to a pedestal. If there is even some truth to it, or even if it is just pure gossip, itâs hard to imagine the possibility of Sanjaya ending up as the champ.
While Sanjaya appears to be a very amiable person, this doesnât change the reality that there are far better players on the competition who have been sent home. And as a result of Sanjayaâs retention over eliminated contestants who have shown more promise and potential, many viewers are disappointed and saddened by the unimaginable outcome. As a matter of fact, there is even an ongoing hunger strike assembled by some American Idol fans just to stress a point.
Sanjaya Malakar, 17-year old from Federal Way, Washington, performed with the Hawaii Childrenâs Theater prior to his inclusion on American Idol season 6. He auditioned in Seattle with his older sister however only Sanjaya penetrated the Top 24.

Would Sanjaya winning American Idol be the death of the show?
Let's face it, the boy can't sing. He is horrible and off-key on every song he sings. Without that votefortheworst website, Howard Stern, and thousands of tone-deaf, stupid pre-teen girls, he'd have been gone a long time ago.
But everyone knows it's not a talent show, it's a popularity contest that can be manipulated by the voting.
So if Sanjaya flukes his way to a win, despite it being a popularity contest, the show would lose all integrity and credibility. Will that signal the end of American Idol's run? Sanjaya simply will not sell albums - he's a horrible singer. And in the end, you have to sell music to be taken seriously. So does his winning mean the end of it all?

If he wins, I'm never watching again. He's horrible. Simon keeps saying how horrible he is, but he let him go to Hollywood. I'm blaming this trainwreck on the judges.

isn't it more a statement about america than the show?
you can't fault the judges for putting him through if the public are voting for him! their job is to choose who they think the public WILL like not OUGHT to like.
maybe he will follow other showbiz personalities and go into congress so that he can delight you all for longer.
personally I shudder when he comes on.

Let me just say this… if Sanjaya wins, I will NEVER watch American Idol again. I also think that if he wins Simon should be true to his word and quit the show… Who is the more popular man here?? SIMON!! The American Idol public will freak if Simon leaves!!

Funny you should ask that! Did you know that Simon Cowell left the British version of his Pop Idol because he was quite fed up with the way the Brits were voting? So if it happens here, I have every faith Simon will walk and there is no show without him. One thing to note about Sanjaya…the boy will sell tickets when they tour the US-and we know cold hard cash is the bottom line not the integrity of the show…

I don't know why everyone is saying Sanjaya will win now! I mean we still have the hope of Jordin, Lakisha, and Melinda winning (although I think Melinda will probably win) Sanjaya was in the second group of people which means he wasn't exactly the top! I mean he could've been soo soo close to being in the bottom three! I'm still mad that he is here though and I can't believe Gina went over him.. Although I didn't like Gina that much I still would've rather had her on for another week than sanjaya! But to answer you initial question.. probably last year everyone wanted Chris to win and he didn't and I think everyone wants melinda to win so if she gets voted off and Sanjaya wins I don't think very many people will be watching next year

Yes it will. The show has proved to me that it's all a big fat joke and will not watch it anymore after next season. This is the 1st time I see it all the way through and with Sanjaya still there it has confirmed to me that it's all a popularity contest and it's stupid.

If he wins I think this will be the end of the show! Let's face it this years show is probably the worst one yet! It seems like it is all a big joke except for a few. Could they not find some better singers that what they've got! I know a few of them are good but in all they don't compare to previous years.

I think people will still watch even if he wins. The last show ratings will be threw the roof. But I'm not saying he should I have disliked him from Hollywood on. We would have another Taylor ( low record sales) Hicks on own hands.
Vote for Haley or Phil Next week.
